red Angels - Public - u have a ninja in your guild (proofs inside)

Im sorry this is an old post but i cant sleep.....so go figure. Im just gonna warn you, it will be some boring facts and even some japanese words but hopefully you will understand what i write.

I think its time to redeem the word "Ninja", what have they done to deserve this?
First off im gonna go through some historical "facts" about ninjas and then continue with some typical tricks and trades of the normal ninja. Who was the ninja and what was his purpose and what role did he/she play. Finally im gonna try to come to something that could be called a conclusion or analazys.

Etymology: (if you dont know the meaning of the word, i will spare you the google search - "science of the origin of words" (its a alignment in linguistics) or simply why the fuck that word is that word).

Ninja consists of the words Nin and Sha/Ja, it can also be pronounced as Shinobi-mono, Shinobi no mono or just Shinobi. This can be translated to "hidden person". Sometimes its even translated as "a person that bear (side note here, not a bear as brum brum in the woods), or a person that endure but cover up his pain.

History:

A ninja or shinobi was a covert agent or mercenary of feudal Japan specializing in unorthodox arts of war. The functions of the ninja included espionage, sabotage, infiltration, assassination, as well as open combat in certain situations. The underhanded tactics of the ninja were contrasted with the samurai, who were careful not to tarnish their reputable image. Therefore the ninja was often a simple man/woman with no social status hence the lack of historical facts written down, the japanese just didnt care. Much more is written about the samurai but back to the ninja. The origin of the ninja have existed througout japanese history but emerged as we know them today in the 15th century. People was recruited as arsonists, spies, raiders and even terrorists. This was a completly different style of combat or warfare compared to the distinguished samurai, i.e. the ninja did the dirty work. Ninjas was orginized into larger guilds, each with their own territories and clans. From what i have read, there were two famous clans; the Iga and the Kôga. They were pretty much wipedout by Oda Nobunaga (have no idea who he is but i guess a big warlord) but the remains fled to the mountains of Kii, where the recouperated and became Tokugawas bodyguards. One of these ninjas became very famous during his service at Tokugawa, Hatori Hanzô (wink wink KILL BILL!).

There are actually a lot more histories to tell about the ninjas but ill just stop here, you get the point of the origin of ninjas.

The role of the ninja:

The ninja were stealth soldiers and mercenaries hired mostly by daimyos (feudal lords) and their roles were those of espionage, sabotage and assassinations. Here i can kill the first myth regarding the ninja. Lets say i wanna infiltrate a group of french philosophers (im so sorry if any french is offended, this is just a exampel and not for real), do you think i would dress up as a lumber jack with an axe or would i wear a beret, drink red wine and say oh la la all the time? No the ninja wore a disguise with the purpose to gather information about the enemy.
Sabotage meant that the ninja destroyed something of value to the enemy, like stealing or arson. By setting a castle on fire, the ninja created chaos and therefore the enemy was more vulnerable to attacks.
Regarding assassinations it kinda speak for it self but here it gets kinda tricky. There are very little litterature that concur with the theory that ninjas was used in assassinations. Maybe its because of its nature or simply no one special or trained person was used to do the job.
Another myth regarding ninjas is their sword. It would be stupid to just use a specific weapon like the stright ninjato sword, its more probable that the ninja used weapons that were used in most fencing schools like - katana, shuriken, spikes, daggers, bows e.t.c. Probably the ninja used whatever weapon that would get the job done. "Despite the large array of tools available to the ninja, the Bansenshukai warns one not to be overburdened with equipment, stating "...a successful ninja is one who uses but one tool for multiple tasks" (Green, Thomas A. (2001), Martial arts of the world: an encyclopedia, Volume 2: Ninjutsu, ABC-CLIO, ISBN 978-1576071502). Swiss army knife FTW!

So much to say but i think and hope i narrowed it down nicely.

I can see some similarities between a ninja and holktorsken but is it spot on or just bad argueing. I think no matter how many times i call an apple an orange it doesnt change the fact that its still an apple. Anyway i think i have presented enough evidence, fiction and facts that i can come to the conclusion that Holktorsken is not a ninja. I would say that he is a jerk and we as a guild do NOT approve of this behavior and therefor he has been removed from the guild. I would like to give you and the other people that were subjected to this shitty behavior a apoplogy, we are all sorry for this.
